The International Contest of Young Lawyers “Precedent” is an on-line activity for students and young professionals. It's a bilingual contest where you can send the work in English or Russian.
It’s main goal is to give young lawyers and students a place to share opinions and try their skills. At the same time practicing lawyers and the one who is just interested in jurisprudence may participate.
There are two spheres where the participant may choose a case to resolve - intellectual property and private international law. Here’s the list of cases.
You can vote for the works and comment! Here are the approved solutions.
The Contest is held till 21 of June 2010. You can send a work up to June 15.
Prizes for the winners are granted!
Participate and tell your friends and classmates!

Sorry for off topic, but I need to know the opinion of the majority.. I am currently working in a big company and due to the financial crisis my Head Manager told me to improve my education or I will be fired. Thus I decided to get an MBA degree. But.. I can not leave my workplace right now.. too costly for me.. that's why I decided to go in for online MBA program. Is it OK? How can they give diploma at all at the distance? Thanks for all the answers!

I just started college at a community college with the plan to attend a UC as a transfer student as soon as possible. However, I absolutely hate it here and I have no idea how I'm going to pass the next two years. It's only been two months, and the very thought of getting up and going to school every day makes me incredibly depressed. Any ideas on how to cope?

It's weird when you come into a place only to get out, and you find yourself missing it. I'm getting out of community college soon, and I met all of my goals I set for myself there, but when I first entered it, I couldn't wait to get out...to transfer to some place else. But now, I'm realizing that I'm going to really miss this place and my professors. I'm towards the end, and I'm thinking of buying my community college sweatshirt as a souvenir. Weird, huh? You'd think you'd buy your college sweatshirt at the beginning.

So im an creative writing major and I have write a 10 to 20 page nonfiction piece for my non-fiction class. The only subject I think I can even begin to write that much upon is my bisexuality. It'll include memories from childhood that make sense now that i know i'm bi and various other info and musings upon me being bi. The paper will be workshopped by the class (15 people) at some point.
But I've got a couple problems; 1. While I'm out to most of my friends and a couple members of my family, this will be the first time I'm coming out to people i don't know very well. I know I shouldn't care, but for some reason I do. This class certainly isn't the worst place to come out, most of the people being liberally minded and such, but I'm still nervous as hell about
2. I don't wanna be that guy that talks all the time about his sexuality as some way to get attention, cause thats not me at all.
I'm not really sure what i'm looking for here, reassurance or similar experiences maybe? I can already feel a little knot forming in my belly about all this.
Regards,
Ania A. Shapiro

I'm in my 30's and in the last two years, I have finally been able to return to school. I currently attend Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA with a goal of transferring to Cal State San Marcos in 2009. But I've recently realized that I will not be able to do my two year transfer in two years because MCC does not cater to the transfer day-working person returning to college. So I am considering transferring to another Community College (Palomar) so I can finish all of my tier 1 and tier 2 requirements for my degree. I don't think that trying to transfer to the 4 year school is the right answer, I don't think they'll take me yet and I don't think I can afford it just yet. I can't go to school during the day because I work and I still have to support my family.

Columbus State Community College Eliminates Several Sports To Boost Clubs
I say, good. Valencia did this a few years ago to fund their honors program and has become one of the nation's finest community colleges as a result. The Connecticut Community Colleges eliminated athletics at all twelve campuses about ten years ago, and only one college (my own) has reinstated them, now using a separate fund that doesn't affect the student activities budget in order to not eat up the funds available for clubs and student organizations.
I do believe that, as the younger student population within community colleges increases, the demand for athletics will increase as well, but I also believe that there are bigger priorities than sports. They are not money-making programs for most colleges and therefore only benefit the very small number of students who participate. At least with general student organizations, membership is open to almost everyone, and their programming and offerings benefit the larger campus community more noticeably.
Thoughts? Are athletics important to community colleges? Do you think more colleges should take this sort of action?
